Athletes who play contact sports face a high risk of experiencing oral injury and structural damage if they take a heavy hit to their mouth or face. By wearing a protective mouth guard, these risks can be greatly reduced, and problems such as damaged teeth, jaw problems and excessive tooth wear can be largely prevented. With their ingenious, lightweight design, our protective mouth guards offer superior protection, all without causing interference to the user’s breathing or speaking.
Mouth guards are used by athletes from a wide variety of sports and disciplines, including baseball, softball, basketball, wrestling, football, lacrosse, soccer and hockey. Any athlete who plays one of these sports, or any other sport that presents a high risk of oral injury, should strongly consider using a mouth guard. Additionally, mouth guards have been shown to reduce an athlete’s chances of experiencing a concussion or lacerations to their tongue, cheeks and lips.
In addition to athletic mouth guards, our practice also offers night guards for any patient suffering from bruxism, a condition that causes a person to unknowingly clench and grind their teeth while they are asleep. If bruxism is left untreated, it can result in excessive tooth wear and possible damage to an individual’s teeth. Some common problems associated with bruxism include tooth sensitivity, jaw discomfort, headaches and tooth fractures. By wearing a night guard while sleeping, these problems are significantly less likely to occur.
